There are only two stories in all of literature -
a man goes on a journey, a stranger comes to town.

The Avenged

Oscar Acosta

The Chief Huantepeque murdered his brother in the forest, burnt him, and kept his hot ashes in an urn.

The Mayan gods forebode that his brother would come back from the dead to avenge himself, and the murderer, frightened, opened the urn two years later to assure himself that the remains were still there.

A strong wind then scattered the ashes, blinding him forever.

El Vengador

Oscar Acosta
